Her family kicked her out of her home for the pregnacy and she was living with a family on Pearl Street as a maid, and then after the baby was born she was supposed to "give" him to that family. Mabel B.Goodwin Parker's Family

August 5, 2016

Mabel was born one  glorious September morning (the 27th day) in 1900. She arrived in Algansee, MI on Grove Road in a frame house, which sat on a creek bed. Her parents were Charles Augustus Goodwin, always referred to as Charlie or Charlie Boy by his English parents, Frederick and Loretta Holley Goodwin. Charlie married Dora Mae Bickford, whose parents were Ira Purdy Bickford and Mary Craig Bickford. Dora, like Charlie, was a lifelong Algansee resisdent. Charlie was the first of his family to be born in Michigan, the older siblings were born in Marion, NY, and the little family moved here after the Civil War. Fred, Charlie's father received a Civil War pension. Fred served the entire war as a volunteer from NY. His service was a big deal to him. Fred moved here from England when he was about 9 years old.
Charlie and Dora began to farm for a living, and then, Charlie became sick. They took Charlie to the prestigious University of Michigan Hospital, but stomach cancer claimed Charlie far too early.
A big family rift came when Dora married Allen Paul, less than 30 days after his third wife died(How suspicious was that?). The family version that came through to me was she thought he had money and he thought she had money and they both were fooled. No matter what, all the Goodwins and Parkers had trouble with Allen Paul,
Mabel was the first of the Goodwin children. Ira Frederick Goodwin arrived next on September 24,1904.Next came Marion Charles Goodwin in December of
1914, and finally the family's children were completed with Reo Ernest Goodwin, born in June of 1918.
Mabel married her lifelong friend, Herbert Newton Parker on July 22,1922. Ira married Edith Mae Wortman in Springport, MI. Marion married Ellabelle Hall about 1942. Reo married a shirttail cousin of Ellabelle, and a niece of his step-father (Allen Willis Paul) Ruth Paul, also in 1942.  Marion served as a Sergeant in WWII in Europe in Patton's Fighting Red Devils; while Reo served in the army in the Pacific, in the Quartermaster Corps.
