Celebrating Mabel

January 1, 2018

Mabel Karim (nee Seisay), fondly known as Sissy Mabel, will be remembered as an extraordinary woman of God, loving wife,  devoted mother, sister, grandmother, aunty, cousin  and spirited friend. She was married to Cecil Dad Karim and had two children, a daughter Rugiatu Wurie Lamin and a son Karimpa Karim. She was blessed with five grandchildren, Imad, Naimah, Zane, Kerry and Alima.

Her earlier career was in dentistry and she  worked as a nurse at Dental in her early thirties. When she turned to God in her forties, everything changed...

God
Her lifestyle was dedicated to God's work and built on the ideals of Christianity. She invested most of her time teaching the Word of God at The Freetown Children Bible Training Center, where she served as the Director.

Family
Sissy Mabel was a strong matriach who loved  family. The eldest  daughter to The Late Amadu Prester and Mary Seisay, she had three sisters -The Late Ms Esther Seisay,  Mrs Augusta Enejere and and Mrs Lovette Kargbo. Her brothers were The Late Mr Abraham Seisay, Mr Solomon Siesay and Mr Alfred Seisay. Mabel had many nieces and nephews at home and abroad. She was loved by and maintained strong ties with her maternal relatives from Taima including The Kamandas, Lavalys, Gobas among others.

People
Mabel loved friends in a way no one could understand. She  stood out for her relationship with so many  people and everyone she came across felt at ease with and opened up to her. Mabel counselled, prayed for, mothered  and invested all her time in people she loved and valued. She really shared her life with so many people. Aunty Mabel experienced so much and was loved and cared for by many.

A Harfordian and true daughter of Moyamba, most of her peers remarked on how stunning she was, sense of style, her kindness, charm, beauty, humour. Mabel was quite the fighter...

Mabel is  profoundly missed, but please be encouraged to keep her in your hearts by loving God and each other, forgiving  all those who upset you and by helping out needy children. Remember her smile, the twinkle in her eyes, her walk, and celebrate the delightful character that she was.. What a blessing! To God be the glory!

"The days of our years are threescore years and ten;" Psalm 90:10

In her memory, her children will work  towards helping orphans and  improved healthcare in Sierra Leone.
