Mama de Mama.,you are one of a kind. I still remember our first meeting in Chapel of Redemption . I used to have dry nose and had the habit of poking. Mama quacked me from behind and correed me. I felt ashamed. She nudged me again to reassure me as a mother not to feel shy. I was a young woman who had just joined the church and I took notice of her as one who would not allow bad habits. I took notice of her swag as well. Always to match. I loved her uprightness and never late to any meeting when we were in Obio parish. Now mama is gone... I knew it would be some day but this is unexpected. Adue Mama till we meet to part no more.

Mama, you were such a wonderful woman. You loved God with all your heart soul and might according to Deut. 6:5. You were a great disciplinarian and trained your children accordingly. Your precepts will stand fore ever. At about 3 am on the day of you passed on to glory, I was interceding and telling God why you shouldn't go at this time, God told me " My daughter is already with me".You are truly in the bosom of the Lord enjoying all the goodies of eternity. Rest on Mama, We shall meet to part no more.

Dear Mama de Mama! You were indeed a mother in Israel, a good example of a Christian mother, and a Christian mother in-law. Your quality fruits testify of your high emotional intelligence, doggedness, and commitment. Your calm and gentle spirit with cheerful face, ready counsels and encouragement will remain indelible. Adieu Mama, enjoy your mansion and see you on the ressurection morning!

Mama d Mama. Wao! So you have gone beyond to your Master & Lover whom you loved so dearly & spoke so much about. How I will miss those beautiful long moments when we sat together & you told me your life's experiences. You had such a great brain that you remembered facts & figures so well. You quoted dates so effortlessly. You went through a rough childhood without a mother but stood strong & raised great children even after your husband's demise. Your discipline & great breeding speak in the lives of your children. Each of them have carved a worthy nitch for themselves; excelling on all fronts, physically & spiritually. You were my mom too. Afterall, you came morning & evening on your own volition to bath my first son for about a month until I pleaded with you that I was strong enough to cope. Of course, that was how you became endeared to my family as my second mom & Friend. I fear to tell my biological mum, your friend, that you have gone ahead. Words fail me Mama. You exited so suddenly. That indeed, was your desire; not to be a burden to your children. I am glad that I visited even in your dying moments. How will I visit the house now & no longer come to your room to end our gists with our special scripture " be strong in the Lord & in the power of His might''. The Word of God was never scarce in your mouth. Indeed that was what prolonged your life, building your faith & giving you victory over health challenges. Mama, goodnight! Rest on in the bosom of Jesus. You have indeed fought the good fight & gone to receive your crown. Indeed, i will miss you but I know that we shall meet someday in glory to part no more. Adieu Mama d Mama.

Mama will be missed by everyone who has come in contact with her. I will personally miss her smiles and her beautiful way of dressing elegantly. Well polished and very religious. I know that God's got her.
Rest in peace Mama.

I met mama for the first time at her 90th birthday celebration.. As I sat there observing her vigor and enthusiasm in awe and amazement.. all I could see was someone VERY DEEPLY ROOTED IN CHRIST.. The reason for her 'shine', her youthfulness and vigor was pretty much evident.. A 'Christ filled life' .. She became since then my picture of how Christ can transform a life.
Mama you may not know it, but you impacted lives with your faith evident life in Christ. You simply just "lived" Christ. Thank you for being that role model we so seek in the Christendom.
You have run your race successfully.. Go rest in the bosom of the Lord.. Amen

We the children of late Mr S. C. Nwoye join the Cookey-Gam family, their in-laws, friends and all well wishers, in celebrating the exemplary life of our “Mama”, the late Deaconess Mabel Samuel Cookey-Gam, who answered The Lord’s heavenly call to come home, on the 16th of February 2021.

Mama’s was a life predicated on truth, honesty, integrity, divine zeal, discipline, and service and dedication to The Almighty God. Through it all, Mama kept her eyes on Jesus Christ, and her faith in His promises. She was an active disciple, and never tired of giving God the glory, or in bearing witness to His Holiness. She taught generations by her life example, wisdom and deeds, and never doubted her salvation.

She welcomed our Sister, Chiamaka Cookey-gam (née Nwoye) into her family and her wider community, when Dagogo and Chiamaka got married in 1990. Mama and Chiamaka were Mother and Daughter for 31 years; and Mama also became a steadfast mother figure for us all, Chiamaka’s sisters and brothers. She celebrated our successes, prayed with and for us through our challenges, and always had a ready word of encouragement and exhortation.

The Igbos say that when a mighty Iroko tree eventually falls, it leaves us all without the great benefit of its shade. Mama was a mighty Iroko tree during her sojourn on this earth; and her loss is a particularly great loss for everyone whose life she impacted through christian testimony, service of The Lord, ministry and a life that was a shining example to us all. We are all now bereft of the shade, which for long was our crutch.

In rememberance of Mama, we hearken to the words in 2 Timothy 4: 7-8; “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which The Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing”. The verse aptly describes the great life that Mama Mabel Samuel Cookey-Gam lived to the glory of God Almighty.

May her towering strength and gentle soul, perpetually be at rest with our Lord. We pray for His continued mercies and grace on those of us that have lost our shade; and are confident in His Word, to the very end!

Mama de Mama! We miss you already. May your beautiful soul rest in the bosom of our Lord, Amen!

-The Nwoye Family (Ejimofor, Ezinma, Obumneme & Ugonwa).

Mama is gone to meet her Lord and Master whom she loved and faithfully served here. Mama impacted so many lives with her life of virtue, service and discipline.
I remember combing Obio vicinity with the gospel of Christ Jesus in the company of Mama. We would walk long distances, knocking on doors with tracts and Mama would not be left behind, until one day she fell crossing the gutter.
Mama was always first to arrive for Obio women fellowship and had zero tolerance for lateness; never missing a meeting! She was instrumental to building a vibrant and disciplined women fellowship in Obio Parish.
Mama was my course mate at the Ministry’s Bible School! She wouldn’t be left out, even at her age.
Mama, you were an inspiration to me and many others. Till date, I remember your dedication to the Lord’s course and for me, it’s “no excuse”.
Rest in the bosom of the Lord Mama until we meet to continue in the highest service.
