Where does one begin to describe Cass and his life. This amazing man began his life on July 28, 1946 in Pueblo, Colorado, and passed from this life on January 15, 2011 in Springdale, Arkansas.
Cass has six siblings, Jess, David, Ed, Mark, Debbie and Karen. To him they were more than his brothers and sisters, he thought of them as his children. He became their father figure at a young age, and they meant everything to him. In addition to his brothers and sisters, he has amazing children, daughter, Cassie Ann, and his son Brandon. I cannot begin to recount the the times he told me about his family and the joy they were in his life. He adored his nieces and nephews, of which he had many. In addition to his family, he had close dear friends, Clem, Arlene, Duke, Roy, Bino and his "Booze Hag" friends, Elaine, Faye, Ginnie, Loretta, and most of all Kay Ann.
Cass was a Vietnam veteran, and was very proud to have served his beloved country as a U.S. Navy medical corpsman. Over the course of his life, he lived life to its fullest. As a body guard for the late country singer Johnny Paycheck, Cass met and hung around Nashville greats, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Crystal Gayle, and Loretta Lynn. He loved football, and was a coach/player with the Pueblo Bikers' United, and played in several Toy Bowls. One of his most endearing qualities, of which he had many, was you never had to wonder what was on his mind. He would tell you! His generosity knew no limits. I witnessed many of his random acts of kindness and generosity to friends and strangers alike.
In June of 2008, Cass moved to Arkansas to help his life-long friend, Clem, raise Arabian horses. He was always the first one up in the morning, so he could spend time alone with the horses that adored him. He would start whistling before he got to the stables. When he entered, all the horses had their head stuck out their stalls to greet him. He favorite was "Zorro" who Cass helped deliver in the Spring of 2009.
I was blessed to have him come into my life two years ago. We were best friends before love started to grow between us. During the last year and a half of his life, we were inseparable. We spent many hours, just the two of us, talking, watching movies, cooking, but most of all laughing. I can remember many times we laughed until we cried. On the night he left us, we were having a wonderful evening. One minute we were dancing, and he was enjoying life to the fullest. Thirty minutes later he was gone.
Words cannot describe the emptiness and the holes in the hearts of the people who love him now that he is no longer here with us physically. I am sure I speak not only for myself, but his loved ones, his spirit and memory will never leave us.
I love and miss you, my Sweet Cass! I look forward to the day when we will be together again.
Always in my heart, always my love,
Annette
