I guess the best biography that could be written of my dad, is the tribute his grandson, Matt, gave at dad's passing. In short he said:

Papaw cared more than most, loved more than most, and was made to suffer more than most. No matter how many times Papaw got knocked down or endured pain, he kept coming back.Words can't describe how much my grandfather means to me. I'll always remember him playing a little Johhny Cash on the guitar and cheering on them Vols when they were having the worst season.My number one fan had to be Papaw. It didn't matter what the weather was like or how much I was playing, I could always count on Papaw cheering me on in the stands at my ballgames.

Matt then read Philipians 2:4...Let each of you look not to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
