Mama as she is fondly called was born on the 25th of November 1917 in Akabo clan, Uruagu village, Nnewi, in Anambra State. She was a very bright and hardworking child. She was also very clean, tidy and extremely organized. She carried on these attributes even into her old age.

She met and married Late Sir, Richard Esione; whom was a renowned catechist with the Anglican Church Dioceses of Nigeria.  They both lived in many cities as her husband’s missionary work took them to many towns, where they spread the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and worked in the church. Their marriage was blessed with 8 children, 21 Grand children and 17 great grand children.

Mama Nelly was very beautiful, scrupulously clean and fashionable even into her late nineties. She was also a great cook.

Mama belonged to severally organizations in her life which includes, the Mothers Union, Mother’s Guild, both in the Anglican Communion. She was also an active member of the women’s wing of Oraifite general meeting.

Due to her work for God, with the Church, She was conferred upon the Titles “Ezinne” and “Mother of Faith” by the church. She was very happy and proud when she received these titles, as she was with all things concerning her work for The Lord Jesus Christ.

As a business woman, Mama was known in her community as a very industrious woman. She ran a bakery for many years, had an enviable large farm, and carried out numerous trading businesses even as they moved from town to town.

Mama, enjoyed good health, sound mind and clear thinking, up until she went to be with the Lord.
