School was always a struggle for her, but when she was 11, we decided to send her to the Special School and it was a turning point in her life.   She was the smartest kid in her class (thanks to Mick tables lessons as breakfast time), and she became a mentor to many if her classmates.   It was there that she learned to cook, crochet and other life skills.

When she left school,she went to the Endeavour Foundation sheltered workshop.  It was here she met life long friends, Jacki, Lynda, Annie and many more.  She was the matriarch and often fought her friends battles for them with the staff.   Her friends often rang her seeking advice and she enjoyed this role of mentor .

Madonna knew right from wrong and would argue to the end if she felt she was right.  She was very wise in so many ways.

At 7 months I entered Madonna in a Baby Show at  the little town of Miriam Vale.  We knew she was perfect and thankfully so did the judges that day.   She won her section, then went on to win Champion Baby of the Show.  This was one of her proudest achievements and often reminded her brother, Anthony and sister, Kristen of this fact.

Madonnas was born on 22nd March, 1963at 8.20 a.m. She weighed 6 lb 1oz.  Such a tiny little baby with the cutest face and she had a mass of black hair.  She was 19 inches long.  To us she was perfect in every way. 

  On the day Madonna was born the price of bread rose from 1/6 pence to 2 shillings.
