Chehlem Valley Transit

February 22, 2019

I met Mac when I was in a training class at CVT when I first started there. He had already been working there and was working a split shift. I think that was why he was in our classroom training. I'm pretty sure that he was the first driver that was previously working who took the class.

Mac was very helpful and informative.

We talked and shared stories over the time that we worked together. Also we shared a lot of laughs.

Mac had a great sense of humor. He could really make me laugh. Working at CVT was like being with family. We really loved our fellow employees. I will cherish those memories forever.

A memory from Marcus, one of Mac's regular bus riders

February 10, 2019

Hi everyone my name is Marcus you know I got so many special stories about that guy you know we met because I used to ride the bus when I worked at Subway and you know he really had such a great sense of humor and so we had a lot of fun conversations because

it was about a 45 minute drive in and as the years went by he really went out of his way to reach out to me made me feel real special and I think one of the most important things is he got me to reconsider God and unfortunately my past is long and dramatic.

I hadn’t been to church since I was probably 13 years old I’m now 53 and so probably about 6 years ago he talked to me and got me to come back to church now and again I don’t attend as much as I like but the fact that he was able to get me to reconsider is a pretty big thing to me I have a lot of gratitude for that man and I know so many people have so many stories about him and it was truly a pleasure watching the way he would minister to people on the bus and just wherever he was out in the public I definitely miss him a lot. I can honestly tell you that my life is so much better for me having met him and Diane. he certainly didn’t waste his potential or his gifts he is them the most admirable thing this world is lucky to have him and has become a better place because of him I miss him dearly.

I love him and I look forward to seeing him again soon I’m giving him a big hug and thank you Diane for sharing him with us you are truly a good woman. I’m sorry that he isn’t here with you but he will be one day soon. My love to your family he is such a great man, and thank you for letting me share this with you.

Mac's car

February 10, 2019

When we were at King School, Mac drove a Ford Consul. Not exactly a chick magnet. He not only drove it, he could walk it. Somehow, while it was running, he could get out and walk along side the car, steering through the window. Not sure how he did this, but pretty amazing. The photo isn't his car, but the nearest I could find.

The "Rattle"

February 10, 2019

I might get some of the details wrong (Wendi can correct me). But one of dad's pet peeves was a random "rattle" sound. You could be having a conversation with him, and he would stop in the middle and say, "Do you hear that?" (even though so many times he couldn't hear what you were saying, or he would think you said something completely different). One time there was one coming from the back of his car. He couldn't figure out what was causing it, so he took little Wendi (she might have been about 12) and told her to ride in the back while he drove, so she could identify it. No luck. So he drove to the fire station (where he was a volunteer) and found someone who was off duty. Dad stuffed himself into the trunk and had this guy drive around so Dad could find the source of this rattle for himself. (Meanwhile, little Wendi had to awkwardly ride around with some stranger!). It cracks me up at how obsessed he was with this little annoyance!
