Her Life
December 16, 2013

Kahjame Dorothy was born in Kutandsti on the 21st of April 1937 to Late Ba Samuel Fomucho Tangwa and Late Na Rebecca Bongbella Bamun.  She was the  second child of six- Daniel Bengyella Tata (DBT), Godlove Sambum Tata (Ni Goe), Thomas Fofung Tata (Ba Nkom Gwagaua), Ma Anna Kahdoh Pefok (Ma Anna), and Ni Theophilus Nkom Tata (Ni Theo).  She had very little education as she spent most of her childhood caring for her younger siblings.

As a young woman, she married a tenant farmer from Bossa- Late Mr. Paul Langmia (Papa Joe).  Soon after, they moved to Tombel in the Southwest Province.   Mami conducted business, selling anything from soft drinks to containers for home storage.  She did this for the majority of her life to provide for she and her husband’s ten children- Late Grace Nahgwa (Ma Grace), Elizabeth Tata Mba (Ma Tata), Joseph Nji (Ba Nji Fonjoe), Late Christina Kahbala (Ma Christina), Late Samgwa’a & Nahjela, Susan Bongbella (Nah Bong),  Gideon Tah (Ni Gideon), Francis Tahdah (Tahdah), and Daniel Langmia (Pa Joe).  They later moved to Kutandsti in the Sang Quarter of Bali Nyonga.

In Bali, Kah grew to become the matriarchal figure to the entire Fon and Tata families.  She was the source of joy, love, and support to all who knew her. Mami’s legacy will continue through her 20 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and her future descendants.
