Man Chiu was a strong father, husband, and friend. He was always dependable and earnest, with integrity in all things. Throughout his life, many were given the opportunity to relate and befriend a person of character, devoted to what is honorable, right, and true.
For those who knew him best, he had a sense of humor that allowed us to smile in the most serious of situations. There was never a harsh or negative word, but instead, he poured out encouragement, pushing those around him to pursue their lives to the fullest of their capacity.
Man was the best father Michael and Andrew could have ever asked for. He devoted his entire life to his family and never hesitated to sacrifice in any way he could to care for us. Through his deep committment to us, we are confident of his love for us. Even in this most difficult time, admist the tears and pain, we still feel his love and will never forget what he has done for us.
To all Family and Friends: We are so thankful for your outpouring of love and encouragement that has been freely given to us during this difficult time. You all have unceasingly embraced and comforted us through our loss. We cannot put into words our gratitude for all the help and support you have provided.
At this time, our greatest need is your prayers and emotional support. We will need your love and encouragement both now and far into the future, as the loss will take time to heal. Please pray for Man's wife, Laura and his children, Michael and Andrew. Also, it would be of great encouragement to hear from you, so please leave your thoughts, condolences, and encouragements here.

I used to work with Man in the field engineering support group when I first joined Scientific Atlanta in 2006. Man was always having a positive attitude and a good sense of humor. He was a nice peroson, a good team player, and easy to work with. His strong troubleshooting skills and good work ethics made him a good fit in that group.
I am saddened to hear the loss and still cannot believer the tragedy happened to such a nice friend. Man, rest in peace!
Man was always polite and helpful. He is fondly remembered by all at Northern Telecom / BNR and here at Zhone too. I would talk to Man every once in a while at Perimeter Church for a meeting I attend on Wednesday nights. He was there playing Badminton - those guys are crazy! When Zhone brought over the AccessNode from Nortel, we brought over the VTBM card too. We had an issue with the cards which required debugging. Everyone who knew anything about the cards had not been brought over - except for Man. We got him involved, and he told us about some debuggers used just for those cards. A frantic lab search ensued, and we managed to find the debuggers. These were scary looking devices, wires and connectors all over the place. To Man, they were an old friend. He was able to hook them up and in a matter of hours determine what the problem was and guide us to a solution.
Patient, kind, helpful - just plain nice. Man always carried himself with integrity and a willingness to not only help, but engage in your life. It was great running into him at Perimeter, I am so saddened to learn of our loss.
Peace Man, I know your Faith has brought you home.
A great man, friend and coworker
