My new rescue cat, she came from "the pound" scared to death. I think she has settled in.

Matthew, Aspen Rose, and Laurel Brook Thompson. I can't brag enough about my Son, the girls are both sharp as tacks. Aspen has Marcy's height and Laurel got her crooked pinky fingers.

Matt goes punk

April 13, 2011

Matt had been growing his hair long all winter.  This was one of the first sunny days of that year.  Matt asked his unruly sister to shave his head because his hair was becoming too hot to deal with.  I thought it would be funny to leave it in a mohawk as a joke.  He LOVED it!!  We then decided to dye it red with cherry cool aid.  We added elmers glue and hairspry to get it to stand up.

Mom was due home within the hour so we left it just to "surprise" her.  (We KNEW she'd HATE it).  She was indeed shocked (appalled would be a better word) when she walked in the door.  Matt and I laughed so hard that all she could do was laugh with us.

Identifying "grandchild" (plus choking baby story)

April 13, 2011

This was Jazzmyn's first trip to Ohio.  She was only a few months old.  She was on the verge of pitching one of her "fits".  We later found out that she had a seizure disorder  (thankfully she's outgrown it).

This was around July 4th.  We took the trip specifically for the Thompson family reunion.  She won the youngest baby award.

Mom had taken Jazzy to try to calm her down.  Thankfully, it worked.  Mom and dad were the first to witness Jazzy after her first grand mal seizure.  They thought she had choked on something.  They turned the corner and found her blue and not breathing.  Mom joked for some time that she couldn't keep Jazzy anymore.  Jazzy scared the heck out of her that night.  Two weeks later I called mom to tell her that the choking episode was actually a seizure.  Jazzy had 3 seizures in one day.  That explained the blue hue she had taken on with mom.  It also explained why Jazzy was always throwing tantrums.  Unfortunately, Jazzy didn't really have a chance to get to know her grandma.  She was only a year and a half old when Mom passed.  Mom was too terrified to take Jazzy for any length of time after the "choking" episode.

I was showing Jazzmyn some of the pictures of mom when she was younger.  I asked Jazzy who that little  girl was in the "spoiled on Oak Street" pic.  Jazzy was quite sure that was a picture of herself.  She was wondering where "her" bunny had gone.
