Margaret Roberts Blackwell ,92, died peacefully at her home, April 12, 2011 surrounded by her family after several years of declining health.
 
She was born on October 3, 1918 to the late Jasper and Claudia Roberts. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Lewis Glenn Blackwell.  Margaret accepted Christ at an early age and remained strong in her faith the remainder of her life. Her spiritual faith was reflected in her love of people and God. She was a member of Mt. Creek Baptist Church and active in the Women’s Missionary Union as long as her health permitted. Margaret cherished the births of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved weddings and could always flash that wedding smile. She was a meticulous homemaker and a wonderful cook. She was known for her cakes especially her Japanese Fruit Cakes. Margaret made Christmas and Easter holiday memories for everyone. Her table was laden with food that she had prepared with love. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, who was known as “Nannie.”
 
Margaret is survived by her five loving children and their spouses:
Bruce M. Blackwell and wife Barbara, Rev. Glenn Blackwell and wife Millie, Bennie R. Blackwell and wife Amy, Anita B. Nugent and husband Bruce, Debra B. Harms and husband Royce, 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Margaret was loved by all who knew her. She had a contagious smile and a warm and loving personality that will be cherished by her family and friends.
 
 Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, April 15, 2011 by Rev. Johnny Richards and Rev. LaMar Wheeler. Burial will be in church cemetery.
 
   Visitation will be held from 7:00 – 8:30 PM Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and other times at the home.
