Margaret Purcell CameronAug. 23, 1961 - Oct. 29, 2020 Margaret Purcell Cameron passed away peacefully in her home in Dunthorpe, Ore. on Oct. 29, 2020 after a four year battle with metastatic breast cancer. Her husband Kirk was at her side.
A selfless and beloved mother, wife, sister and friend, Margaret was a blessing to all she touched. She radiated beauty from within and put all others before herself.
Margaret was born Aug. 23, 1961 in Raleigh, N.C. to Alec and Barbara Purcell. Her dad’s military and business careers caused her family, including younger sister Robin, to move around the Southeast before settling in Mercer Island, Washington when Margaret was in high school. Not a fan of the Pacific Northwest weather, Margaret went south to sunny Pepperdine University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations. She spent a year of school studying abroad in Heidelberg, Germany and her continued love of travel took her all over the U.S., Central America, Europe and Asia.
She graduated in 1983 and went to Portland, Ore. where she became one of the first employees at The Waggener Group (now WE Communications).
She married husband Kirk Cameron, on May 2, 1987. Margaret was a dedicated mother to their two children, Kyle and Madison, while managing communications and marketing for Kirk’s company.
Margaret was heavily involved in her community. She was on the Board of Trustees and Board of Directors for the Portland Children's Museum for 10 years and was an active member of the Junior League. She co-founded Friends of Laker Baseball, a community sponsorship program for athletics at Lake Oswego High School.
She enjoyed hiking, walking the dogs, traveling, tennis, baking and reading. She was an avid entertainer with meticulous attention to detail. She loved nothing more than spending quality time with family and friends.
Margaret is survived by her husband Kirk, children Kyle and Madison, parents Alec and Barbara, sister Robin, and grand-dogs Ari and Beau. She will live forever in the memories of those who knew and loved her. She is now at peace and will guide her family as an angel from above.
