She radiated warmth and grace. Whatever the obstacle, her belief in
her Lord and the love for, and of, her family gave her great strength. What a truly special person she was.

Happy Birthday Mom. You are missed and remembered. We wore purple today because it was always your favorite color. I learned today that it is the symbol of Health and that St. Raphael is the patron of Health.  Love, Linda

Lois Eischeid What a beautiful aunt I had both inside and out. I have many fond memories of she and Matt, especially when we were growing up. Special times were when we could spend the night on their farm. Margaret was a special talented aunt and will be greatly missed by all. We send our deepest sympathy, but am comforted by knowing she is now resting peacefully in the arms of Our Lord.

I never saw her look anything less than spectacular and always with a smile on her face. I feel privileged to have been related to her. Every night when we tuck the kids into bed we still say "Don't let the bed bugs bite the bed". I swear!!!!

Age was certainly no obstacle. It is easy to know the kind of person Mrs. Hugeback was by knowing her family. Now we are sorry for them and wish we could convey our sympathy more adequately. As it is Fall, the following quote is most appropriate," So, like the leaves, when our season is ended, we return to the earth-as God intended."

She was an extraordinary person who had a vision for life and its possibilities and she focused on the achievement and success of those dreams. And she did it all with love in her heart and love for others. She would not be compromised. And everyday, she prayed, she exercised, ate healthy (in between blizzards from the DQ)
and she maintained brain power. Missing her love.

I remember the times I spoke with her in Sidney, and was in awe of her determination to continue to read and to never see challenges as barriers but rather opportunities to learn and grow. I am reminded of the hymn, We Are Called. "Come! Live in the light! Shine with the joy and the love of the Lord! We are called to be light for the kingdom..." She will always be a light for anyone who knew her.

Halloween at 209 E 2nd St.

How apppropriate that my memory/story is about Halloween night at the Hugebacks. I spent many high school halloween nights entertaining trick-or-treaters with Suzie and Margaret.  As I remember it, there was a bench near the front door of that house at 209 E 2nd and Suzie and I would stand on the bench while Margaret would pass out the treats.  Then we'd jump down and scare the trick-or-treaters.  I can still hear Margaret laugh at our trick.  Great memories there at the Hugeback house!

Also,  there are times when I think of a certain person or thing and I think of the Hugeback house every time I  have to cllimb a large flight of stairs. (The Hugeback stairs were easy to climb). I didn't know that Margaret designed that house, and I'll never forget the shallow or short steps on that lovely open stairway,  I think of that stairway often, and how easy it was to go up because the steps were not quite as high as every other stairway.  Margaret was certainly thinking when she designed that!

Lots of happy memories, but those are just a few.

I remember mom's courage. We went to Mass one early icy morning when I was in junior high, and after Mass, she slipped on the ice, falling on her arm. She got up with a few tears streaming down her cheeks, but she made no fuss and said she would be just fine. Two days later we learned that she had a broken arm! She was always a woman of grit, faith, and courage!

Mom took me to Omaha and found Brandeis for me. When my veins broke, she came. When I fell out of the bus, she came. Then I had polyps in my nose, and she came. I had a tumor removed, and she came. I got robbed and Mom always came from Carroll to help me.
