Maria Antionette Baldessaro Paolone (nee Mandara), 76, of Hoover, Alabama, died on April 1, 2022 after a short but fierce battle with leukemia. Maria was born on October 17, 1945 in Bolzano, Italy to French & German parents. Her father was killed in World War II.
She came to the USA at age 11, was adopted by Anthony Baldessaro, and lived in Altoona, PA.
Maria graduated from Altoona High School in 1964, studied at Penn State University and finished her Health and Communication degree at The University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2005. Maria met Francis (Buck) Paolone at Penn State, were married in 1969. The marriage lasted 52 years and 10 months and the couple had two sons, Jon and Patrick.
Maria was preceded in death by her loving mother, Lieselotte (Lilo) Martinez and her two brother-in-laws, Ralph Paolone and Joseph Paolone. She is survived by her husband, Francis, sons Jon and Patrick (Anne) Paolone and grandchildren, John and Amelia Paolone.

The Memorial Service / Celebration of Life will be 4pm local time on Friday April 8, 2022, at St. Peter's Catholic Church - 2061 Patton Chapel Road, Hoover, AL 35216.
