Her Life

As a teenager for a short time she lived with her sister Rosa and her brother-in-law Tomas and their daughter Rosaline in Norfolk, Virginia; she moved back to Guam, where she stayed with her mother Magdalena and her sister Dorothea; she graduated from the Academy of Our Lady of Guam in 1957.  She worked at the Naval Station doing receptionist work; at one time, she was a candidate for the Liberation Queen pageant in Guam.  She left Guam to marry Uncle Richard Acosta in Indiana in 1961.

Maria passed away peacefully on Dec. 3, 2012 in Fremont, CA, surrounded by loved ones

During her life she enjoyed cooking, crafts, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Maria was born and raised in Guam.  She will be missed by all those who loved her, but we are comforted in the knowledge that she is home with her Lord.

Maria was an intelligent, creative, loving person who deeply involved herself in what she cared about most - her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, entertaining, and traveling. Maria was extremely generous, putting the feelings of others before herself.  Maria  was an artist in the kitchen and many enjoyed her signature dishes.  Maria felt her proudest contributions and her greatest achievements were her kids.

Most of all, Maria loved her significant other Harry, and her family, including her 2 sons Darren, Eric and daughter Desiree, 4 grand-children Ashley, Nicholas, Lorenzo, Tatiana and 2 great-grandchildren Aushinea and Alasia. Maria's loving kindness to all will be greatly missed!

Maria  is survived by her children Darren, of Tracy, Eric, of Atlanta and Desiree, of Las Vegas
