Mrs. Marian Longshore Hollis, 88, of Lanett passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016 in her home after a long life of inspiring, teaching and shaping the lives of thousands of students.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of the First Christian Church in Lanett. Rev. David Bradshaw will be officiating the service.

Donations may be made to the First Christian Church in Lanett in memory of Mrs. Marian Longshore Hollis.

McCarthy Funeral Home in West Point is in charge of arrangements.

There are those few individuals that you know shaped you, that were instrumental in showing you how to live with grace and humor and love. There was no one better at telling a story, breaking out into spontaneous dance, lighting a fire in someone about music, or being a good friend. I love you so Aunt Marian, you will always live in my heart. Know Scott, Sam and I are lighting a candle and lifting our love to you from Chicago.

Marian was not only my aunt and a devoted piano/organ teacher and singer, but she was a part of my life from as far back as I can remember. I have never known a kinder, more giving person who lived her Christian faith. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to my cousins Ab and Jeff Longshore, their families, her sister Jewel Ann & husband David Christian, Allen Hollis, Marian's husband and Mary Jo Gossett who loved her as a sister. Marian loved them all dearly.

Mrs Longshore was my mentor and friend. She and jimmy spent a lot of time teaching and encouraging me. She created in me a deep love for music! So much of my childhood was spent at their home. She will be missed! - Libbi Langford Holden
