Her Life
November 29, 2014

Mary was born in Heard County, Georgia on December 15, 1926, the daughter of the late Katie Jackson Thompson and Hamilton Heard Thompson. Her love for life made her a favorite among her school friends. She graduated from Heard County High School where she was a star basketball player. That skill landed her a spot on the West Georgia College Girls’ Basketball Team. On August 16, 1946 she married the love of her life, Harold Warren of Bowdon, Georgia. They later had a family which they raised in Warner Robbins, Georgia. As a stay at home mom she spent much of her time sewing for her children. She considered each little garment a labor of love. Aside from her children’s activities she was active in the Evergreen Baptist Church. In 1966 when her children grew to young adults she busied herself with a professional career as an Executive Secretary at the the District Office of the Equitable Life Insurance Company of Macon, Georgia, where she worked until her retirement in 1991. She was a voracious reader, and traveled at home and abroad. In 2001 she moved to Rossville, Georgia to be near her beloved children. This brought great joy to both her and her family! The legacy she left will long be remembered by all who knew her.

She is survived by one daughter Terry Catlett (Lonnie) of Rock Springs, GA.; one son, Scott Warren (Nanette) of Woodstock, GA.; one grandson Brent Turk of Phenix City, AL.; and three great-grandchildren.
