Her Life

Marilyn

July 7, 2015

Marilyn Day Kiernan
06/01/1945 – 06/22/2015

It is with the deepest regret that I inform you that your beloved friend, Marilyn Day Kiernan, passed away peacefully in my arms at our home in Marin, California on Monday morning, June 22nd.

Marilyn will be greatly missed by her family and friends. We know she now rests in God’s hands and, I believe, she is smiling down on you and all her special friends. We also know she would prefer us – one and all – to celebrate the time we shared with her rather than mourning her passage to her next adventure. She lived more fully than most of us dare, and it is that spirit of embracing life with all its complexities and passions, fears and joys that I ask you to share as you remember her.

A graduate of the University of Illinois and the MBA program at Purdue, Marilyn enjoyed a wonderful lifetime of unselfishly helping those around her and working for programs and causes that were dear to her heart. At the same time, she understood and cherished the value of close friendship, joy and having fun, enriching the lives of everyone she met in ways both large and small.

She is survived by her husband Patrick; brother Mel and sister-in-law Paula Kielas; and brother-in-law John Kiernan.

A life ended, even too early, is never the same as a life lost. Marilyn continues on in our hearts and memories as well as through the countless lives she touched, both directly and indirectly. A foundation and website, http://www.forevermissed.com/marilyn-day-kiernan are being established so that her colleagues and friends can share pictures and stories of our dearest Marilyn’s life and legacy. Please join us in celebrating a truly remarkable person.
