MARILYN FILLMORE, 91, of Linwood passed away Friday in Shore Medical Center.

A lifelong Atlantic City and Linwood resident, Mrs. Fillmore was employed by the Atlantic City High School for 50 years and Childs Restaurant for many years before retiring at the age of 72.

During World War II she worked at the naval shipyard in Camden and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.  She was a member of the Showmakers Theater Guild for many years taking tickets and photographs and even acting in one of the productions.  She made friends with everyone she met and always remembered their favorite thing whether it was a rabbit, a favorite place or most especially their favorite candy.  She was a big fan of the Miss America Pageant and rarely missed their annual parade.  She enjoyed playing slots and going on day trips to the casinos.  She was a member of the local AARP group.  She and her best friend Myrtle Jarvis went on many senior citizen trips together including a memorable trip to Alaska.  She enjoyed traveling with her sisters and nieces on cruises in the Caribbean and spending time with them in Florida.

She attended local catholic churches and always attended the Wedding of the Sea.

She was predeceased by her Husband Walter, brothers Aloysius J. Shaud, Calvin J. Shaud and Pierce V. Shaud and sisters Leona Eastwood Robinson, Hannah Barton, Eve Weems and Gertrude Kenna.  She is survived by her son Walter R. Fillmore (Penny), daughter Bernadette L. Stevens (Mark), granddaughters Kristel L. Fillmore and Ashley L. Fillmore, sisters Anne Damico and Alice Greeley, numerous loving nieces and nephews and many, many friends whom she made and kept throughout her life.

To Marilyn's family,

We were so saddened about Marilyn. We are away for the winter and just learned. My husband Ted and I taught at ACHS for 40 years, where we came to know Marilyn. That was back in the day before fast food when our cafeteria staff made and served gourmet meals. Marilyn was wonderful. I had more fun with her. When someone shipped a 50 gallon drum of olive oil with a tap to us from Greece, Marilyn saved and sterilized all the empty mayonnaise jars for me from the cafeteria so that I could bottle and give. She also helped me plan menus for private parties with recipes and actual help in preparing them.

She lived a long life. We hope all of it was good--as she deserved it to be. Please accept our sympathy. We are truly sorry for your loss.

Sincerely, Barbara and Ted Manos (from the old ACHS)

"Mrs. Fillmore was such a great lady. I remember when I was growing up that she used to take us to the beach every day in the summer when we came down to stay with Nan. I'll never forget working with her at Child's, she was always in the house with Mom when I came down and always was so nice and caring. Patcong Avenue will definitely be a sadder place without her. Was always an Angel here on earth. Thank you Lord for letting me know her, and Bless her family and give them all good memories.

Bernadette, Walt and Family, I am very sorry at the passing of your Mom. I have lots of memories of the trips to the Beach, Dairy Queen and I do not think of Lucy the Elephant without thinking of your Mom taking us there. I am so Thankful for my last visit and the time I spent with your Mom and the opportunity to introduce Faye to this Great Lady.

Marilyn was a true angel on earth....and that is no exaggeration. She touched our family (Carlin) in so many ways and was one of the kindest, most generous and full-of-life people I have ever known. She will be missed but never forgotten.
