     Marilyn Louise Riggs, 80, of Peoria, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

     A Celebration of Marilyn’s Life will be at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue in Peoria. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

     Marilyn was born on May 18, 1938 in Peoria, a daughter of Walter and Louise (Close) Carrington. She married George Riggs on May 17, 1966 in Eureka. He survives.

     She is also survived by her children, Scott (Pam) Simpson of Peoria, Christine (Ronald) Ward of Dunlap, Jeffery (Lynette) Riggs of Peoria, Mike (the late Sheila) Riggs of East Peoria and Matthew Riggs of Peoria; siblings, Joanne (Raymond) Penwell of Bartonville and Walter (Tobi) Carrington of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Carissa Keith, Sarah Caunter, Daniel (Erin) Keith, Jacob Ward, Casey (Kristian) Fay, Heather (Jared) Heller, Elizabeth (Brent) Alcorn, Nathaniel Riggs, Sadie Riggs, Zac Riggs, Mackenzie Riggs and Lexie Riggs; and 11 great grandchildren.

     Her parents and one grandson, Joseph Riggs, preceded her in death.

     Marilyn spent most of her life being a homemaker and raising her family. She worked for a few years in the kitchen at the Children’s Home in Peoria. She was an avid Chicago Bears fan and eagerly anticipated the start of football season every year.

     Memorial contributions may be made in Marilyn’s memory to American Cancer Society.
