Mark Alexander Dean, 77, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at his home.
A native of Granville County, the son of the late Spencer Ezra Dean and Willie Bell King. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church and was retired from the City of Oxford.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 3, 2016 at Eakes Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford by Rev. Randy Pittman. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Henderson.
Surviving is a daughter, Sharon Dean Yancey (Tommy) of Bullock, a son, Michael W. Dean (Kimberly) of Oxford, a sister, Betty Wagstaff of Norlina, five grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Marie Beal Dean, three sisters, Mary Cottrell, Lillie Prospt and Edith Yarboro and a brother, Jessie Dean.
Flowers are accepted or memorials can be made to Providence Baptist Church in care of Rosa Overton, 3039 Shady Grove Rd., Oxford, N.C. 27565.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening June 3, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Eakes Funeral home in Oxford and at other times at the home.

Daddy this is your daughter Sharon Dean Yancey, I know you are resting now and not in any pain. It was so hard to see Mama be call home to her resting place. But I know both of yall are pain free now and watching over us. I miss both of yall so much. it was even harder to see you go. Mr. Mark is one of the few honest straightforward men I have ever been privileged to have known. He was a trusted and true friend to me. To his family I want you to know the great respect that Mark earned in this world. I like you and many others will greatly miss him. But knowing his faith I am more happy to know he is at peace with God.
