Senachwine Township started the Mark Serio EMS Fund to attempt to provide First Responders to LTA that are trained and local. Mark would appreciate the complications involved in 5 agencies that aren't designed to fail, but just cannot succeed in the present format. This effort will continue until we can add to your legacy, Mark. We remember and thank you for your example in leadership and patience.

Among all the things I loved about Mark, when you met him, with that great smile he always made you feel that he was really glad to see you.

As my brother in law Mark naturally had to be included with Deb’s sisters, me and Nanc! He laughed at our sister stuff, hugged us when we needed a hug, took me to a Bear-Packer game at great personal risk, lol and truly loved our sister Deb. I struggle with the whys but at the end of the day I feel blessed to have been part of his life! Hold the ones you love close. Love ya bro

Fondest memories of Mark were exhibited in his delight in making Lake Thunderbird a better place by enforcing the Curb Appeal Rule...

Mark was always a down to earth guy. He always had a smile and when you were having a conversation with him , he was always looking at your eyes to showed he cared. I’ll always will remember his giggle too.

Ken and I were stunned and horrified to hear about Mark’s passing. He was a great guy. He always had a smile on his face and was always willing to lend a helping hand. We’ve made fond memories with Mark and Deb for many years and though this is a devastating blow, his memory will live on in the many people whose lives he touched.

We are so sorry to hear that Mark passed away. He was so helpful to us and always had a smile, took time, and had a kind word for us. Mark has changed Lake Thunderbird for the better in dozens of ways. The whole family has our deep sympathy, and we pray for Deb to find the strength and support she needs in the coming months.

I was notified of Mark's passing by a friend. It has been fifty years perhaps since grade school knowing Mark. I knew Mark only briefly. But I remembered. Because I remembered him a very pleasant and welcoming person even in our budding youth. I am so glad to see that he continued to bring his warm joy to those in his life. I think we are all richer from Mark. I know I am enriched again.
Best regards and always,
Steve Jezik

I am so sad to hear this, I was just thinking about Mark & Deb yesterday. We were neighbors for a short time but we just loved them.
Mark was so sweet and kind. He was so welcoming. He would invite us over to join the family for get togethers and we always had a blast with everyone. We would find all sorts of balls in our yard from Mark as he would play fetch with our dog in the early mornings before he went to work. He had such a quiet calm disposition. He was truly special. I’m praying for Mark’s family and all those who loved him.

I Don’t even know where to begin, I worked for Mark and Debbie for three years at the restaurant. They became like family to me. Mark was such an amazing boss, an amazing man, and an amazing friend. Debbie, I can’t even begin to understand the pain you are going through right now and I hope you find comfort in the fact that Mark touched so many peoples lives and for the better. I have so many wonderful amazing and great memories from the restaurant that I cherish and hold close to my heart every day. Mark became more than just a boss, he became family and so did Deb. Debbie I love you so much I I am so sorry. I know how much Mark loved and cherished his family and each and everyone of you is in my prayers.

If you could count your true friends on one hand you are considered blessed. I started counting, but my chest tightened and my eyes teared. Mark has my heart, fingers are for others. He made us all feel like his friend or his family. He mended fences between those who couldn’t see common ground. Look around, his footprint is in the water, on the shore, in the woods and the architecture of our structures. In so many ways, he will always be here with us. Thank you Jen and Jessi for this opportunity to express our sorrow and the joy he extended to all. Rest in peace buddy, Bill Reaska

Early each morning when we're at the lake I sit outside with a cup of coffee. Mark would drive by and stop, not to discuss the problems of the world, but to just say "Good Morning". It was a perfect, small gesture that started my day in an enjoyable way. Just a small gesture that will be greatly missed. Both Phil and I are feeling a terrible emptiness because Mark was always someone we looked forward to seeing. A friendship that we didn't have enough time to enjoy. Just another reason to be grateful for those special people and the little things they bring into your life.

My husband and I didn’t know Mark well, but we sure did appreciate and enjoy his company. He and Deb were some of the first people we met after moving to Lake Thunderbird. We live just around the corner, so his truck parked across the street at Flynn’s was something we saw all the time, and it always meant lots of laughs, teasing, and usually a beer or 3. He always had a smile, a kind word, and I loved listening to him talk about the goings on around the lake. He always seemed so educated and passionate about his job and our community here, and I learned so much from reading his “Views From the Lake”, my favorite part of the Chairtree. His sudden passing is a huge blow and leaves behind a gaping hole for many. I pray that knowing how much his love for Lake Thunderbird inspired so many people will help heal this terrible wound. Sending all our love to the Serio Family and Mark’s friends, who were family as well.

Mark and I were always good friends since early grade school through high school. Then I would see him at reunions and we always had a lot to reminisce about the old days. Then by chance we saw him and met his wife at the lake the summer of 2019. Nothing had changed and our friendship still seemed fresh. I will miss him and I pray for his family and friends who share my sorrow.

Mark is part of my extended family. He was always very quiet, friendly & generous whenever I saw him. He was one of those bigger than life kind of men. He was scary enough to keep you in line, but more than that, he was fun, loving & caring too. He was a very important part of my bothers & Jennifers life, someone they looked up to, admired & loved. I will forever be grateful to him for all he did for my brother as a father in law. He gave him a Father to look up to! Thank you Mark for loving Ryan & your whole family! ❤
