Marek came to the United States from Poland in 1968 with his parents. They escaped the oppression of communism to build a life in Los Angeles. In 1977 Marek joined the U. S. Navy and served with distinction until 1981 attaining the rank of Mess Specialist 2nd Class. Upon returning to civilian life he embarked upon a career in men’s clothing at the downtown LA garment district. Marek was a great friend and shipmate, he will never be forgotten.
