Marlene was a cute little girl loved her pony picture and loved movies and collecting movies star photos. One of her favorite movies was Breakfast at Tiffany's and Wizard of Oz . She loved to sing and play the piano. She sang Over the Rainbow on stage and Moon River at home along with other movie songs. Every time we would watch it she would burst into song and as a kid I would be like stop. But I would give anything to hear it one more time. She was also a Telephone Operator for Cincinnati Bell for 10 years and even did some ad modeling for them. She then got married and had two kids me Jennifer and my brother Ronny. When it came time. She raised us herself and gave up everything for us to provide catholic education to food on the table. She loved us. Her mother Edna her father Ray her little sister Nancy and her grand children Sarah,Mark, Allison and Adam and her step grandchild Alexis. She would tell me stories of growing up in the depression how hard it was and missing her father when he was of at war. Then stories how she was always looking after her 11 years younger little sister Nancy. My favorite was the one when she said there were some dogs running after them and she picked up Nancy to swing her around in a circle to keep the dogs at bay till help arrived. My mom was always clever and a fast thinker to solve the problem at hand. She was always there for my brother and I through sickness, health, school activities, homework and even the fun stuff. She was a loving person and always gave us lots of hugs and kisses. In her later life she liked to stay home and watch those old movies. She always worried about her kids and their well being. I will miss those calls of don't go out in the ice stay home even when she was sick in bed would always tell me to be careful, dress warm and so on. She always told me she took care of me now it was my turn. Taking care of her the last part of her life was not alway easy but was my joy to be with her. I just wish it would have even been longer. She had some fun times in the nursing home when the Elvis impressionist came and sang to her and gave her a scarf. And when the zoo came with the owls. I love my mom so much and will miss her like nothing on this planet. Now she is with her mother and father looking down on us now. She told me don't cry. We love you Mom.

Trip to the Zoo

December 15, 2020
One time several years ago my husband Tim and myself, Jennifer, took Mom to the zoo. We walk around looked at all the animals and they had a camel ride. I said hey let's ride the camel. She was a little leary. But after a few minutes of convincing she was up on the camel. Thank goodness I had a camera to catch the moment. She had a blast and took a great picture of her on a camel. How many people have pictures of their mom on a camel. So I share that with you on this site. One of the happy times. Love you Mom. I miss our fun times.
