Marshall Watkins Hicks, 86, a lifelong resident of Granville County passed away Sunday, August 28th.

A native of Granville County, the son of the late Kenneth Holmes and Mamie Jones Hicks. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was retired from Athol in Butner and farming.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 31st at Mt. Zion Baptist Church by Rev. Keith Williams. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Surviving are his wife of sixty years, Violet Oakley Hicks of the home, a daughter, Wendy Hicks Petrie (Jack) of Raleigh, a son, Marshall “Marty” W. Hick Jr.(Cindy) of Kittrell, a grandson, Phillip Greyson Hicks, two sisters, Joyce H. Crowder and Elma H. Partin, both of Oxford, three brothers, Carl G. Hicks of Durham, Travis N. Hicks of Oxford, and Brent J. Hicks of Morrisville.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth H. Hicks II, W. Taylor Hicks and Raymond A. Hicks.

 

Visitation 12:30-2:00 PM Wednesday, August 31st 2011 in the Fellowship Hall at Mt. Zion Baptist Church,1171 NC 158 Hwy, Oxford and at other times at the home.

I'm so sorry to hear of your Father's passing. Having recently experienced my own father's death, I know Mr. Marshall will be greatly missed. You all are in my prayers.
