Her Life
February 14, 2016

Mrs. Allen was born in LaGrange, Georgia on June 6, 1932, the daughter of the late Pearl Eley Hyatt and Franklin Amos Hyatt. She was a Christian by faith who treated everyone she met with kindness and respect. In her early years she worked in the textile industry in LaGrange Georgia. She later became the secretary and bookkeeper for the Edelson’s Army Store where she worked for sixteen years. She late worked at the Centralhatchee Elementary School lunch room where she loved being with the children. After her retirement she loved doing crafts of all kinds. Collecting pieces of nature were a particular favorite of hers, such as shells and pieces of driftwood. She was a very gifted seamstress and even made evening gowns for her daughter’s proms and beauty pageants. Mrs. Martha Jane was a fabulous cook and loved nothing more than preparing wonderful meals for her family! Having them gathered close to her was all it took to make her exceedingly happy! She was a lovely, kind lady who was respected by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by one daughter, Cathy Altabchi (Asad) of Newnan, GA.; one son, Michael Allen (Alison) of Franklin, GA.; one brother, R F Hyatt of Roanoke, VA.; one step daughter, Cynthia Beckam of North Augusta, SC; six grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
