Sisters of the Night

March 13, 2016

Grandmother and I would stay up late while my grandfather went to bed at 7pm. We listened to classic blues, Nashboro gospel and just talked. She said she never told anyone she liked blues music because she didn't want people to think she was a loose woman. Hilarious! She liked to cook, and she made THE best fried chicken EVER. Her cakes were wow.

Grandmother wore hats and gloves after everyone else had stopped. I wish I still had them.  Wish I had her dishes and the percolater she used when making breakfast. I can still smell the coffee, smell and hear the sausage cooking and her solid state radio.

Yes, I miss her; I am glad that i have so many memories. Holidays are very hard and bittersweet. I don't wish that I could see her once more because I could never let go. Looking forward to experiencing her spirit again.
