Her Life

Heart Break

September 14, 2010

I was very excited when I found out I was pregnant. However, in August of '07, the excitment turned to heartbreak. We were told there was no anmiotic fluid around her. We were told that she would not survive. She had Potter's Syndrome and also HLHS which means one side of her heart was not working. We were told to abort her. That was not an option for me. I could not do that. I started preparing myself for the worse. But how can someone prepare for the death of their child? On October 3, 2007, Martha Marie was born still at 3:01am weighing at 3Lbs. and 17 1/2 In. long. She was born with 6 fingers on each hand and 6 toes on each foot. She would have been a great piano player :) I feel cheated because I did not get a stillbirth certificate. The state of TN does not give them. I'll never forgot what the nurse said to me. She said, what WERE you going to name her? Like she didn't deserve a name. How dare she! I love her with all my heart and I will never forget that day
