Marty was born on March 18, 1958 in Kimball Nebraska. He was the son of Donald and Jacqueline (Hoke) Kloppenborg.
He lived near or in Emmet Nebraska all his life and attended grade school in Emmet and graduated from high school in O’Neill. He attended agricultural school in Curtis Nebraska for 18 months.
Marty married Charlotte (Chuck) Marcellus June 21, 1980 in Atkinson Nebraska. To this union 3 daughters were born.
Marty always lived life to the fullest and was accomplished in many things. He had a beautiful bass singing voice and performed with his brothers in “The Church Band.” Marty got to live his dream, raising and selling his game birds. For the last 15 years he spent most of every day working towards fulfilling that dream, and loving every minute of it.
Marty was happiest when he was spending time with his family and friends. It could be said that Marty never met a stranger. He always had a big smile, a wave and a story to tell to everyone he met.
Marty’s greatest love and passion was for those who survive him, his best friend, his wife of 31 years, Chuck, his three daughters and their husbands, “my favorite boys”, Nikole Engelberg and husband Jeremy of Wentzville, Missouri, Holly Kay Cole and husband Tyson of Page, Nebraska, and Danielle Sargent and husband Brett of Piedmont, South Dakota. His three beautiful grandchildren, Isabella and Carson Engelberg and Evan John Cole. His parents Don and Jackie Kloppenborg of Emmet, two brothers Kirby and wife Kathy and Kelly and wife Terry both of Emmet, and one sister Laurie O’Neill of Emmet. Mother-in-law Angie Marcellus of Atkinson; 6 sisters-in-law and 6 brothers-in-law on Chuck’s side. He was a favorite to all his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and his many, many friends.
Marty was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father-in-law, Don Marcellus.

Our business, one mans dream!
This is a video of a tray of our baby quail. Marty's dream was to own and operate a wild game bird farm. He made is dream come true! We gathered, on average, 4500 to 5000 eggs every day. Marty built his own incubators and invented turners for them. We hatched close to 25,000 eggs every Friday. When he died in 2011, we owned the largest quail hatchery in the state of Nebraska!
Marty would come in from doing chores and this is how he would spend his evenings, playing with both Carson and Bella. During the kids visit, Marty took care of Carson at night, all night! He loved him so much! I would hear him talking to him, telling him about the quail and the incubators. They even had a midnight snack together, every night!
In September, 2011, we were fortunate enough to watch Bella and Carson for a week. Marty was so excited! He had a long list of things he wanted to do with them. Hot tubbing was at the top of the list. Papa and Bella were best buddies. Bella even went on a couple bird deliveries with him. I am so glad that we made this visit possible!
