Hi Marty. Thinking of you tonight as I get the reminder that this is the day you left mortal life and entered the spirit world to await the resurrection. I'm actually listening to church music on my computer this late night because I needed a little lift. I will continue to pray for your family as I know you cared for them so much and they love you to this day.

Not to have that chance calling of my name and to find Marty hailing me from somewhere in a store is something that I miss. That big bear hug and smile will always be a fond memory. I'm richer for having known him......

I have worked with Marty on many of his inventions through our law firm. He became an instant friend, and a joy to talk to. He truly loved his family; he shared many loving stories about all of you. He was a very special man, and will be sorely missed. I know I will never forget his friendship. Vicki Shepherd

His last days

October 31, 2011

As many of you know Marty suffered from a number of physical ailments, some minor, some not.  His body was in pain nearly every waking moment.  Many never knew the extent of his suffering.  He was good at being happy and not bringing others down due to his problems.

On September 28, 2011 Marty had gall bladder surgery.  The surgery was successful but Marty did not bounce back.  He continued to become weaker and weaker and was continually monitored by his doctors and even had a few trips to the hospital.  On October 19th, Marty was admitted to the hospital again.  The doctors were sure he walk out after a few days.  On October 23rd Marty went into a coma.  On that day the doctors learned of his liver and pancreas infected with cancer.  We all cried tears as the news was spoken.  In the early hours of October 24th, Marty left us as I held his hand and watched his last breath.  He will be missed by many and is loved by all who knew him.  The Mitchell family is grateful to all who have sent condolences and who keep Marty in their hearts.  At his funeral, the best tribute I heard was from Bishop Fred Roberts as he concluded the service and said,"After hearing these words about Marty, I want to be a better man."  Let us all be better people by telling our loved ones how much they mean to us.  Life is short.  Make the best if it!!!!
