Mary, we spent much of yesterday thinking of you. You would have only been 64. You were taken from us all at such a young age. We miss your powerful presence. We still feel the void of your being gone. We hope you're staying busy and productive in your heavenly home. We love you for eternity. Your Family

Yesterday would have been Mary's 64th birthday. Our simple lives measure each moment with the hands of a clock but in eternity, no such clock exists. God lets us keep the memories, trusting that we use them wisely. Mary is continuing her journey and I always see her special star in the night sky.

When we first met (~1980) Mary was proud to tell me her 'stats': "Five-Two-52 and 52 and a half".Loved it and have told many new friends about her over the years. Dear Mary- we still miss you so and think about you all the time. Miss those bi-coastal catchup calls, and especially your visits home, where your NY accent would reappear overnight! Our family has had a void in it ever since you left us. We're sure you've made many friends in your heavenly home. Love you with all our hearts, Pete, Leni, Joe, Joe Jr, Heather and David.

Dear Arley and Family:

Words cannot express how shocked and saddened Sanjay and I were to learn about Mary's passing just today.

We know Mary from our days at Ives Terrace. She was the warm, wonderful person who welcomed us to the neighborhood and was always there when we needed help or advice. She will be truly missed.

Today would have been Mary's 63rd birthday. Birthday celebrations were always special to us as we exchanged two cards. One card was always funny and the other serious. We celebrated all holidays in the same manner!
Our lives were about laughter and celebrating the joy of being together. So, this day will always be burned into my heart as I continue to move my life forward. Happy Birthday to my sweet Mary!

Today, Monty and I celebrated my 73rd birthday by coming to Carmel for a few days. Looking across the sea in the opposite direction of the day we placed Mary's ashes at sea off of this beach. Lots of memories and a few tears. We continue our path forward and thank God for the times we shared. It's all so strange but today was part of my healing process.

Mary was the first one to meet us at the front gates to Stratford Gardens when we were looking to buy a house, and we will always remember her smile, her generosity of time and talents to create a wonderful neighborhood for us to live there for several years. We look forward to catching up with her in the eternal neighborhood, and she will probably be at those gates smiling to welcome us in there. Thanks, Mary, and we miss you and your spirit of being a "good neighbor".

Dear Mary, You have left such an indelible mark on us at Los Altos Rotary. I think still of your sparkling smile, your very smart and creative ideas to help others, and your immediate willingness to help. You gave us all a model to live by. And most important, you did it with love. Arley continues your good work.

Today is the second anniversary of Mary’s passing. I find that time and great friends, including little Monty, are part of the healing fabric that seals a heart wounded by such a loss. Maybe this is God’s way of showing the infinite possibilities of love and the truth of all life. My memories stand as tall as the tallest mountains and as deep as the deepest oceans. I know this day, oh so well, and that all my thoughts will reverberate with love across the universe.

My husband and I met Mary when we were contemplating short selling our home. Mary came into our lives and made everything painfully clear - which is what we needed. Mary guided us every step of the way being patient but firm as well - Mary did an amazing job and months later told me she was undergoing chemo treatments. We had no idea - what an amazingly strong woman and we were so lucky to have met her. She made a huge difference in our lives!

Mary is one of those unforetable people who stay with us for the rest of our lives. Her smile and her humor, her spunk that kept us all going. It's been a year, but I know she is still with us in spirit.

One year passes today! It's now all about memories and reflections. My tears are for both the joy of having Mary in my life and her lose. She now walks through eternity as the angel she was as she walked with me and Monty. True love never dies but puts on a new veil to see the evening stars.

Yesterday, Oct. 7, would have been our 24th Wedding Anniversary. It was a quiet day as Monty and I continue to let time move forward. Eight months have gone by since Mary's passing.
Daily life can fill some of the void but the memories and thoughts are constant.

Ironically, the visit to Mine Falls Park was on the six month anniversary of Mary's passing. This wasn't planned but the stars must have aligned our trip for this special remembrance. I took pictures of this now lonely spot reflecting with each click of the camera shutter!
All of this is so difficult, but for me, appears to be necessary.

Monty and I are on our long road trip and just spent the last few days on Staten Island and in Nashua, NH. Both visits were bitter sweet as we frequented locations that we had all shared together during December 2007.
The location at Mine Falls Park in Nashua was extremely emotional. At a very special spot I had taken a picture of Mary and Monty with a backdrop of a dam.

Recently, I saw a picture of a house in the Bay Area that looked interesting, so I wanted to see what Mary would think about it. Because I live out of the area, I didn't have ready access to her phone number. I went to Google to look it up. And, that's when I learned about Mary's passing. I am in shock. I admired Mary greatly and am so sad. But, Mary, you will always be in my thoughts.

It's hard to believe that four months have passed. My heart is still heavy with the loss of Mary. Time is a slow healer as I let memories guide my heart and mind.
Monty and I plan for our long road trip starting on July 20 to re-ground our lives and search for answers. I know that the world is larger than where I am today!

Too soon, too young. Mary guided me at ASK, sharing her wisdom. I remember when she arrived at ASK in Chicago as the new Regional Manager. She came into the meeting on stilts. Had a great sense of humor. Whatever she approached she did with dedication and drive. My sympathies to her family.

I was saddened to hear of Mary's passing. We had great times at ASK. I specifically remember her doing some jewelry shopping on our Rio Club trip
I remember that she waited a long while for the right guy. You were the love of her life. I think that the last time that I danced in public was at your wedding.

Mary Marley Memorial Scholarship at Minot State University

May 5, 2013

Close friends Clint Severson and Conni Ahart created the Mary Marley Memorial Scholarship at Minot State University. Clint is a graduate of the university and has created the Severson Entrepreneurship Academy as part of the business school.

Conni shared Mary's story with the audience during a special banquet on May 3rd in Minot, ND. Jamin Heller was this year's recipient of the scholarship. Conni's words definitely came from her heart!

Thank you, Clint and Conni for honoring Mary in such a special way. She would be so proud!

Mary was a true role model

February 12, 2013
Mary was the embodiment of the Rotary motto “Service Above Self.” Mary was tireless and always available when anyone in Rotary needed a hand. She often tackled difficult tasks from their beginning. She was the driving force behind our five-year strategic plan that is the blueprint for where we are taking our club for years to come. Mary was a mentor to a lot of members in our club, and her absence will be great. Mary Marley was a true friend to many and will be missed dearly.

Mary being a Grandmother

February 12, 2013

When Mary married me, she became an instant Grandmother. I always told people that it wasn't so bad be a Grandfather but being married to a Grandmother was quite different.

Mary enjoyed the role especially with stepdaughter, Wendy and Wendy's husband Troy Orf. Their two sons, Joseph and Jonathan brought much joy into our lives even though they were several hundred miles away. It has been fun watching these two boys grow and now with Joseph in college, brings a different joy as he marches towards adulthood.

Wendy and Mary had a special bond. Wendy always called Mary, "Mom". I know that Mary will be greatly missed by this special family that she inherited through me.
