I was sad to hear the passing of “Mom” as I used to call her. She was a sweet lady, and will be missed by all who loved her. My condolences to the family.

Mary Ann “Pinky” (Ward) Wick, of Sun City West, AZ, formerly of Lake Havasu City, AZ and Duluth, MN, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 22, 2022. She was 89 years old and the loving wife for over 70 years of Russell G. Wick. Born in Duluth, MN, she was the daughter of Julia and Peter C. Ward. She was raised and educated in Duluth and graduated from Central High School in the class of 1951. At age 19, she met and married the love of her life, Russ, and together they raised their 4 children: Randy, Peggy, Jim and Cyndi. Mary Ann worked for many years for the central office of the Duluth Minnesota public school systems where she handled audio/visual educational materials. In her retirement years, Mary Ann and Russ enjoyed living in Lake Havasu, AZ, and traveling in the RV with Russ at the helm. Together Mary Ann and Russ traveled all around the country visiting family and friends and exploring many of the wonderful sites across the United States. An avid quilter, she took pride in making lovely projects for her family and often donated her handiwork to charity. She was quick to teach others her crafting skills and was a proud member of the Lake Havasu Stitchers quilting club. In her spare time in addition to quilting, Mary Ann also was an avid reader and letter writer, she enjoyed square dancing with Russ and spending time with family and her many friends. Most recently she lived in Sun City West to be closer to family and to eliminate the grind of home maintenance. In addition to her husband, Russ, Mary Ann is lovingly survived by her children: Randy Wick of Las Vegas Nevada, Peggy Morgan and her husband Fred of Sun City West Arizona and Edmond Oklahoma, Jim Wick and his wife Tammy of Eau Claire Wisconsin and Cyndi Shattuck and her husband Jim of Winchester Massachusetts. She is further survived by 8 grandchildren: Alissa, Kimberly, Karly, Casey, Sarah, Kristina, James and Julia, who adored her for her kind words and easy laughter. Mary Ann also was blessed with 5 great-grandchildren: Rhea, Jameson, Hayden, Baylor and Bellamy, who brought her great joy. She also leaves behind her best friend of nearly 80 years, Pat Tessier. Mary Ann requested to be cremated and returned to Duluth, the city of her birth, where a private service celebrating her life will be held.
