This memorial website was created in the memory of my grandmother, Mary Brawley who was born on September 17, 1942 and passed away on December 12, 2009 surrounded by her loving friends and family. She was Mother to Tracy, Frank and Kathy, Grandmother to Jonathan, Jana, Trae, Amy, Derrick and Dustin and Great Grandmother to Tyler and Little Trae.

Grandma was and is still the glue that holds our family together.  We will all miss her and continue to keep her memories alive.

Ah! It's your Birthday Month. Yes, I'm being selfish when I miss you and miss celebrating you. I'd have fixed your hair and we'd have went and got something to eat and of course you'd have had a big fat coke. I know I'm early. But 78 years! Woohoo!

I miss you. I saw a lady the other day at the hospital...she had rheaumatoid arthritis and my heart ached for you. I love you so much. Your grave stone is beautiful! Derrick helped pick out the angel. I of course, had to have them add a vase. But, it's out and you would be so proud of it.

Sleepovers

June 5, 2010

I remember when I was little and mom and dad would be ready to leave and take us with them.  I used to pretend I was asleep.  I would try my best to keep my eyes closed, not blink them, and not move a muscle.  I did this because I knew they'd just end up leaving me there to sleep.  I really enjoyed spending the night with Grandma.  As soon as they'd leave I was awake and then we'd watch The Golden Girls, Mama's Family, or Are You Being Served?

Potato Candy

May 28, 2010

Grandma,

Everyone thinks I'm crazy when I mention your potato candy...until they taste it.

I remember the very first time we made it, I thought you'd flipped your lid.

We didn't feel like getting out and you had potatoes, powdered sugar and peanut butter.

I thought you were a genius when I tasted it.

Everytime I make it I think of you...then again there isn't much that doesn't get me to thinking about you.

French Vanilla Cafe'

May 28, 2010

Grandma's favorite coffee was French Vanilla Cafe'.  There wasn't much to it...but it helped to calm her nerves she'd say.  I remember when Jonathan and I (Jana) were little.  We would sit around her table...one of us content in her lap and we'd convince her to let us drink coffee out of a tiny cup or from her stirring spoon.

If you ever left her alone you could see her in the chair in the kitchen...one of her feet propped up and in deep thought smoking a cigarette.

I'd never leave her alone though...I was always a talker.  Imagine that, me a talker!

We love and miss you.
