Mary Carolyn (Miller) Borengasser, 87, of Fort Smith, departed to join the Lord on September 27, 2016. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on April 9, 1929. Mary Carolyn lived a long and beautiful life and was surrounded by family during her passing. She married Jack Borengasser on April 15, 1950, and the two were committed to their love, family and faith for nearly 70 years.

Mary Carolyn was the matriarch, heart and backbone of her large family. She is remembered by her family, friends and community as a generous and kind woman and was known for always welcoming friends into her home and making them feel like part of the family.

She was a graduate of Mount St. Mary Academy in Little Rock. A member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, much of her life was dedicated to serving the Lord. She met her husband, Jack, while she was working at the Catholic Diocese of Little Rock in 1947. The two fell in love, married and had six children. Mary Carolyn was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as well as a world traveler, talented seamstress and cook. She enjoyed reading, spending time in nature and visiting her second home, lovingly called “Glory Hill,” in Altus, Arkansas.

Mary Carolyn is survived by her husband, Jack, of Fort Smith; daughter, Christine and husband Patrick Wheeler; daughter, Susan and husband Jerry Abbott; son, Richard and wife Patty Borengasser; daughter, Marilyn and husband Randy Hendershot; daughter, Gretchen and husband Arthur Rideout; daughter, Kathleen and husband Daniel Weidman; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Paul and Marie (Nutt) Miller; sister, Clarice Scott; and brother, Joseph Edward Miller. She is survived by her sisters, Dottie Sweetman and Emily Booth of Little Rock and Rita Eslick of Hot Springs.
