Mary O’Connor Cooke, 65, a longtime resident of Wilton passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013 after a courageous fight with cancer.

Born in New Bern, NC she was the daughter of the late James Edward O’Connor and Mary Ester Moore of Havelock, NC. She moved to Raleigh, to attend Kings Business School and after graduation was employed by UNC General Administration for 40 years, retiring in 2010. Mary is survived by her son, Matthew Gray Cooke and wife Vanessa Pardue Cooke of Raleigh and her brother James Edward O’Connor Jr, of Greenville, NC.

Visitation will be held at 5:30pm Monday, May 13, 2013 at Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor, NC. with Memorial services immediately following.

The family is grateful to the expert and compassionate services provided by Mary's Hospice team, including: Anita Bryant, Caroline Wilson, Jodi Simmons, Kathy Parker and her nurses.

Mary sure will be missed,she was one of a kind she use to stop at the store all of the time and stand around and chat with whoever was working.RIP Mary u will be missed.

What a beautiful picture of such a sweet lady. Her presence at the clinic has truly been missed. Matt, so glad you had her with during her last days, and I got to see her last on my birthday! Prayers to each of you.
