ForeverMissed

Our mother was the most beautiful person in the world.  She taught us to look at and appreciate  beauty in small things.   She loved to garden and enjoyed all the little creatures that entered her backyard. She never used chemicals or pesticides because she believed that all things had a right to be, and to do otherwise would upset the balance.  She often took pictures of bugs.  She enjoyed watching and identifying birds.   She was also a very accomplished musician.  She spent hours playing the harp, piano, and guitar.  A wonderful stain glass artist.  The crocheter of countless Afghans.  She had so many talents and skills.  A very giving woman with a beautiful heart.  A quick wit and a sharp tongue.  Most importantly she was my best friend.

She passed away from cancer on May 9th 2008 with her two children by her side. We will never forget you.  She leaves behind 5 grand children.

Today is the four year mark of your passing. I planted roses, and butterfly bushes in your honor. Spent the whole day in the garden thinking of you.  Love you Mom and miss you. You made the world a pretter place, and I'm doing the same ;-)

Hi Momma,

I'll be joining you in a few years, and in that I take great comfort. I'm not afraid of death any longer. You've gone before me.

It's been three years Mary and I know how much your children miss you daily and love you very much. I'm proud to have had the opportunity in meeting my best friend's mom as we all had a great time going out to dinner with you, Becky, my Mom and me.

Walking in the rain

Shared by Rebekah Bernhard on November 30, 2009

My favorite memory of my mother is walking in the rain in Brooklyn on Montague Street.  I had just moved to New York, and she came to visit me from California.  It was her first time in the city.  I needed a new pair of shoes.  So we walked about two miles to the promenade at the end of Montague street.  It started to rain and we laughed and sang walk in in the rain all the way home.
