Mary Doris Kearney Pleasants, 90, a longtime resident of Granville County passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington.
She was born March 9, 1929 in Granville County to the late David Lee Kearney and Hallie Breedlove Kearney. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and was a homemaker.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Eakes Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford by Rev. Glenn Stallsmith. Burial will be in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Surviving are two daughters, Diane Pleasants Johnson of Raleigh, Donna Lynn Pleasants of Wilmington; a sister, Louise Kearney Blevins of Oxford; four grandchildren, Vickey Lynn Long of Oxford, Jerry Wayne Freeman of Apex, Mary Allison Baughman of Clayton, JB Pleasants of Louisburg and five great- grandchildren, Stephen Long, Owen Korb, Alyssa Korb, Brianna Freeman and Taylor Freeman. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Buxton Pleasants, Jr. a son, John Buxton Pleasants, III; and a daughter, Saundra Jean McNeal.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 – 1:45 PM Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford prior to the funeral service, and at other times at the family home.
