A native of Phenix City, AL., and the daughter of the late Johnny B. and Eleanor Lewis Barnes, Mrs. Thomas retired from Bibb Textile Mill after over 28 years of service. She was a member of New Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sterling Thomas, a son, Raymond Barnes and four siblings, James Barnes, Melvin Barnes, Ernestine Barnes and Elmira Pugh.

Surviving are four sons, James Barnes(Constance), James Toliver(Wendy), Tyrone Toliver(Sue) and Benjamin Toliver; four daughters, Alveta "Tammy" Barcus(Christopher), Angel Murrell(Thomas), Ineata Kilgore(Richard) and Glenis "Lisa" Thomas(Hershel); thirteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; five brothers, Cecil Barnes(Michelle), Robert Barnes, Rocky Barnes(Patricia), Johnny Barnes and Orlando Barnes; a sister-in-law, Tiny Barnes; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
