Mary Elizabeth Blalock Denny, of Oxford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 29, 2017 surrounded by her family.

Mary Elizabeth was born to the late Lizzie Oakley and Dyar Columbus Blalock on April 23, 1923 in Granville County. She was a life time resident of Granville County, NC. She was married to her late husband of 60 years, Eulie Denny and raised 5 children.

Mary Elizabeth was an amazingly strong Christian woman who believed firmly in hard work, family and her garden. She was a beautiful mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother, who was a Homemaker, active Choir member, Superintendent and Teacher of Sunday School, along with working for Granville Hospital as a Nurse’s Aide and Private Sitting Nurse for 20 plus years.

Mary Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Brenda Joyce Denny Champion; sons, Douglas Eulie Denny (Beverly), Donald Wayne Denny (Kathy) and Michael Lynn Denny (Mary); along with 12 Grandchildren and 14 Great-Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, she is also predeceased by her son, Gerald Blalock Denny, her granddaughter, Elizabeth Joyce Champion and her four sisters, Lillian Daniel, Helen Newton, Beulah Blalock and Eula Blalock.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 1, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and at other times at the home place.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church by Rev. Keith Williams. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
