Mary Elizabeth Higginbotham Reed, 82, a longtime resident of Granville County passed away surrounded by her family, Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Maria Parham Hospital in Henderson.
A native of Athens, West Virginia, the daughter of late George Harrison Higginbotham, Sr. and Beulah Meadows. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was a retired Civil Servant from the Federal Government.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church by Rev. David Herman. Entombment will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens.
She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Bobby Randale Reed of the home; two daughters, Donna Reed of the home, Linda Newton (Mark) of Creedmoor; a granddaughter, Morgan Newton and a grandson, Dylan Newton; her caregiver and sister-in-law, Judy Higginbotham of Franklinton and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, George H. Higginbotham, Jr.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 1:00 – 2:45 p.m. in the Sanctuary of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and at other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, P.O. Box 745, Creedmoor, NC 27522.

It was a joy to be around Ms Mary when I was pastoring Temple. She seemed to have that sweet smile. It is a joy to know that she is in heaven with the Lord for she had an ever growing strength of faith and love for the Lord our loss on earth is heavens gain and may the Lord bring that peace and comfort to Bob Donna Linda and the rest of the family that only He is capable of doing in times like this. Myself Donna Chris and Jeff and their families send our love and prayers for each of you

My prayers and love is with Donna , Linda and Bob. Our families goes back many years. One of my fondest memories with this family is the fellowship we have had with them. In younger years we would go to church along with 5 or 6 other couples and after the service we would meet at one of our homes and have another service . Our children would play and Frank and Mary would discuss the Security of the Believer. Mary lived her faith in God. Enjoy Mary

I'm so sorry to hear of Ms Mary's passing. She was a wonderful kind woman who will be greatly missed. I'll never forget how she took me in when my grandparents passed away right before my high school graduation and even made my dress because my parents had to go back to Tennessee to arrange and attend the funeral. May God keep you strong during these hard times.
