Mary Frances Averette Howard, 84, of 604 Lake Road, Creedmoor passed away peacefully at Duke Hospice Hock Family Pavilion on 9-12-2010. She was born April 17, 1926 to the late Claude and Sarah Minor Averette. She graduated from Wilton High School in 1944. She was an elementary school substitute teacher in the Granville County School System from 1972-1987. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, VBS and former member of WMU. Mrs. Howard was a wonderful cook and catered numerous events in the community. She loved cooking for her family and friends and sharing with others.
 
Family left behind to mourn her passing are her husband of 63 years, Melvin M. “Jim” Howard, son, Jerry Howard(Phyllis), a daughter, Shirley Howard, grandsons, Jeremy Howard and Jason Howard., granddaughter, Jennifer H. Edwards, (Wayne) and four great-grandchildren Jessica and Randall Howard and Olivia and Noah Edwards. She was predeceased by her parents, four brothers Russell Averette (Lillie Lee), Roger Gray Averette , Robert Lee Averette, Elbert Averette. (Myrtle) and five sisters Rozella A. Green (Tommy),Mildred A. Miller (Charlie)Bertha Mae A. Jones (Ned),Louise Averette and Marie Averette.
 
Visitation at 12:30 PM , September 14, 2010 followed by the funeral service at the Eakes Funeral Chapel in Creedmoor by Dr. Marc Tilley and Rev. Tommy Robertson officiating.
 
 Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 2677 Hwy 56, Creedmoor, NC 27522 or Duke Homecare and Hospice , 4321 Medical Park Dr. Durham, NC 27704.

Mrs. Howard was such a sweet lady. I will surely miss not seeing her up at the beauty shop. I hope that god will ease your pain and comfort your hearts.

Jim, Jerry, and Shirley and family: So sorry to hear about Mary Frances. She was one of my favorite people. She always had such a kind voice and word for everyone. I know that you will miss her. I think of her everytime I pass by where she used to live on Hwy. 56. To me, that will always be her home. I remember having dinner there with her and a friend during my high school years. Take care!

Shirley and Jerry, Lane and I wish to extend our condolences to you. Your mother was the sweetest lady and so free hearted. Always wore that special smile. May God comfort you in your time of sorrow and in your time of healing. Our prayers go out to you at this time.
