"Do not stand at my grave and weep.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow;
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain;
I am the gentle autumn's rain.

Do not stand at my grave and mourn.
I am the dew-flecked grass at dawn.
Where tranquil oceans meet the land

I am the footprints in the sand
To guide you through

The Family Home

August 9, 2012

Mary Mangan was born in the family home in Cloughmore with her brothers Patrick and Thomas, and sisters Margaret, and Katy.

She helped her sisters settle and live in England after looking after their children when they came to work in England.

Margaret Mangan married Jimmy Johnson, and they were granted rent free use of the family home because they could not afford one of their own.

Margaret and her family covertly claimed squatters rights by publishing and contesting the Mangan family title in Irish newspapers that  none of her sisters or brother read.

The family home became a property acqusition by the Johnson family, and now remains in their property portfoliio.

This set of actions divided my Mother, Katy, Tommy from Margaret whose actions they regarded as a complete betrayal of any Mangan Family values and very sharp practice /theft of property to be transferred into the Johnson family.

Mary was very upset by the Deaths of her brothers in unusual circumstances.

My mother's first Child died aged about 6 Months

My sister Grace was born in a Bothy

  My Sister Grace was born and lived her short life in a Bothy, on a farm where our Mother and Father worked. My Father worked as a ploughman.

The night my sister died, snow had fallen outside the small Bothy.
My father and mother saw a light outside the window, and watched as it moved around the building.

Eventually overcoming his fear, my father went out to find out who was outside with the light.

In the morning when he went outside, he saw only one set of footprints in the snow, they were his from the night before.

That was the night that Grace died from pneumonia.
My parents were poor Irish Immigrants and were not able to pay for a funeral, and my sister Grace was buried by the Socety of Saint Vincent de Paul.

My mother never forgot Grace
