Mary “Kakkie” Adcock Clayton, 88, a longtime resident of Stem passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham after a brief illness.

A native of Granville County, the daughter of the late William Bluford and Mattie Smith Adcock. She was a member of Tally Ho First Baptist Church in Stem and retired as a healthcare provider at Murdoch Center.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 11th 2014 in the Eakes Funeral Chapel in Creedmoor by Rev. Eddie Nutt. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Oxford, NC.

Surviving are two daughters, Libby C. Royal (Robert) of Raleigh, Frances C. Hamilton(Steve) of Cape Carteret, two sisters,Effie Garrett of Oxford, Helen Greene of Stem, two granddaughters, Marla Hamilton and Allison Stephens, one grandson, Chad Hamilton and two great grandchildren, Brooke and Jack Stephens. She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-seven years, Ernest Clayton, two sisters, Ruth A. Burchette, LallieG  Beasley and three brothers, Vernon, Carlton and McCoy Adcock.

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to Tally Ho First Baptist Church, 1692 Sanders Road, Stem, NC 27581.

Visitation will be held Monday evening, March 10, 2014 at the Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and at other times at her home in Stem.

Libby.Frances and all Mary's family. She was a real sweet lady and I know she will be miss but know that God has a way of taking care of things and she is no longer suffering. My prayer to each of you is that you will find peace and understanding today and the days ahead.
