Mary Lou was born July 27, 1935, in Hyannis, Nebr., to Charles and Pauline (Wright) Folk. She graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1952 and attended Hastings College. She married Norbert Schenck in Lincoln, Nebr., on Jan.8, 1955, and the couple moved to Crothersville, Ind., where they lived for three years before moving to Mullen, Nebr.

In Mullen, Mary Lou worked for the family-owned Norb’s Liquor and Drive-Inn, and later as the Hooker County librarian for 30 years until retiring in 1996. During that time, she started the county bookmobile. The couple moved to West Point, Nebr., in the fall of 2006, where they resided at the time of her death.

She was a member of Trinity Church in West Point, was an avid reader and enjoyed singing, baking, playing bridge, golfing and bowling. Her love for family and her kindheartedness were among her many attributes.

Sis

February 8, 2017

My first memory was one of big disappointment, since my twin brother & I were considered to young to attend the wedding. We wanted cake!! We did find it when the baby sitter wasn't looking, but the pic on the box was way better than the contents, which we explored under our bed. Mary Lou was a mommie, auntie, sis, and friend. She always gave unconditional love . I admired her work ethic and thrifty ways. She always gave a listening ear throughout her life and we shared a love of words and language. We also shared a deep faith and I find comfort in knowing we will meet again in heaven.
