Celebrating the life of Mama Mary Mutia

November 2, 2016

God blessed her with 70 wonderful years on this earth and she lived them well and I can say she exhausted all the resources she was given to impart and deposit here on earth.

She was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, an aunty and a grandmother.

Included but not limited to, she leaves behind the following to mourn her - her brother - Pa Michael Fogha Gwanpua;

Five children -Caroline Njuh, Irene Lemogho, Patrick Mutia, Linus Mutia and Felix Mutia;

9 nieces/nephews, 21 grand children, 1 Son In-law, 3 daughters in-law and many other family members and friends

Mama Mary Mutia as she was commonly known was born as Mary Nghendab Gwanpua in bali – Mezam division in the Northwest province of Cameroon on November 12, 1945.

She was the last of nine children of which only one is currently alive.

She did her primary education at the Catholic Primary school at woen in Bali between 1956 - 1962

She then moved on to St Francis Teachers Training college in Fiango-kumba in 1963 – 1965 under the care of the sisters of saint Therese

She then went on to teach in the Catholic Primary School Futru, at Mile four Nkwen.
She got married in 1965 to Pa Sunny Njuh and this union produced a daughter Caroline Njuh

She later returned to the Advance Teachers Training school Regina Pacis college in Mutengene to do her grade 2 training and certification

While at Mutengene, she also took part in the premilitaire training at the National Police training college.

She graduated and was later deployed and she took part in the Makiza wars in

Cameroon

On July 2 nd 1970 she got married to Mr. Robert Mutia and this union will later produce 4 children.

She taught at the bota primary school 1970 – 1971 when she was transferred to

Bamenda. While in Bamenda the she taught at the Catholic school Small Mankon till 1973.

She then moved to Government School Atuakom where she taught from 1974 until 2001. As a government teacher, she did move to other schools within the jurisdiction as she was one of the few domestic science and homecare teachers but she always return to GS Atuakom.

In July 1999 Mama finally moved to Minnesota USA which she called home for the last 17 years until her final departure from this world.

While in the USA, she did not quit working as she sort to continue supporting her other children who lived outside the US. She started by working in one of the fabric stores Joanne fabrics since cloth making and crafts was something she had a passion for. She also became trained and worked as a certified nursing assistant - (CNA)

With her children across three continents, she would alternate visits between them. She made a very positive impact in her childrens lies that nobody was happy when it was time for her to go from their premises.

She was blessed to have witnessed all her children become parents themselves and she so loved her grandchildren and was always crocheting or knitting or sewing cloths for them. She never visited any grandchild without bringing something that she had hand made herself.

During her time here on earth, she did leave many beautiful and memorable memories, the most profound was her un-conditional love for all her children.Next to God we truly understood the meaning of unconditional love through our mother.
She
encouraged everyone to truly reflect on our behaviors towards one another and especially show genuine love to one another.

Her love did was not limited to her children but extended to their friends and families as well

May we therefore not be tempted to question God why for he knows best. Let us rejoice for the life she lived and appreciate all the wonderful influence she had on our lives.

Mama was a Christian and a believer of Jesus Christ and the bible says in the bk of John11:25 -26.” I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die."
We believe mama is still alive in the the company of the anglels
