Mami, my darling mother, who slept in the lord on 14th of January 2021 left at a time when I needed her the most but God knows best. I can remember when I visited you last year November you were telling me many stories of our childhood which brought about a sweet long feeling of nostalgia. You even told me that we should celebrate your birthday as you are still alive as there is more joy in celebrating a loved one that is alive but unfortunately the cold hands of death snatched you away which pained me for your birthday was a prophesy. You were a mother with a pure heart that loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She was a blessing on earth to so many and I’m very proud of her knowing she left this earth accomplished and triumphant. From God we come and to him we shall return, it gladdens my heart that you will be reunited with the love of your life in heaven; this gives me solace. I will forever miss you my darling mother, may your soul rest peacefully on the bosom of the Almighty. Sun re o mama mi owon, maje okun, maje ekolo, ohun ti won ba n je lajule orun ni ki o ma ba won je.
Funmilayo Atere, Daughter

Maami, I never knew that I would be writing a tribute to you this soon, not even in the next 10 years. Maami, Ojuse Mary omo Lawani Oka-Odo, abiyamo tooto, olutele omo; you followed me about physically and spiritually in prayers. You were a very loving, kind, generous, hospitable, selfless, hardworking and an exemplary godly mother. I am physically able and not disabled because of your sacrifice and faith; even though, my bones and kneels were crushed in my childhood by a hit and run vehicle, you tenaciously and patiently tended my limbs in faith and works. These past days without you have once again reawakened the reality that “awaye maku kan o si”. You heard God’s whisper beckoning you home but you chose to wait for us, you did not want to leave without saying goodbye. You fought the good fight of faith while your hand was in your eldest child and daughter’s hand, holding on tight until all your strength was gone and you could no longer hold on. Finally you bid her farewell and gave your hands to God and slipped away quietly without waiting for me to arrive to tell me goodbye physically. You are gone, yet you are not. You live eternally within all of us. We will always remember you for your loving nature and the values you passed on to us. Praying to the Almighty God for your soul to continue to rest in peace (Amen). I will miss you forever.
Prof. R.O. Arise, Son.

A TRIBUTE TO MAAMI
Maami, your death has left me speechless. When I heard about your death, I was heartbroken. Honestly death is a cruel thing that strike unexpectedly. Maami as I fondly called you, I will miss you eternally, can't believe my prayer partner and prayer warrior is no more, can't believe Maami is gone. Death did not care how meek you were. Maami, you were so meek to souls. Maami, I will miss you and your jokes and most importantly, your encouraging words.
Maami, even though you are no more, I know you went to your Creator. Your sweet and beautiful memories will always keep me strong. Rest on my jewel.
EbunOluwa, Daughter

Mama, I never thought in my wildest imaginations that you would leave at this time.
I met you exactly how people said you were. When my mother went to Oka to find out about the family I would be getting married into, everyone said good things, about you in particular.
My mother-in-law that took me like her own child. I remembered each time, I gave birth you always come with all manners of things, from brooms, pot, food stuff etc. My colleagues then would follow me home because you (mama) would have prepared delicious food for us. You are an epitome of love, my gist partner, a good cook, a humble mother that would do anything for her children. A prayer warrior, neither did I know that you were going to leave, when you were blessing me on the Monday preceding your death. My siblings and my friends admired you mama. I am so lucky to have had you as my mother in love. You were indeed a special breed among mothers and a rare gem of a womam.
Abimbola Arise, Daughter

It was a great memory to have spent my childhood years with you. You were such a prayerful and caring mother and grandma. We all will miss you. Continue to rest on in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Akintola Adedola Adedoyin, Grandson

Losing grandma has cast a void in the lives of both children and grandchildren, a void that cannot be filled by anyone. Grandma was a loving and caring woman, One thing I remember and learnt from grandma was her regular communication with her loved ones and making sure everybody was okay. I can remember all our conversations together and one thing I regret was not trying to spend more time with her. Although I rejoice today knowing fully well that she is resting at the bosom of the Lord Almighty for this gives me cause to be happy. Grandma will be greatly missed and her memories, goodwill and legacy will forever live on.
Adedolapo Atere, Grandson

You may have passed on, but your memories would always live on within us. Thank you for your sacrifices, your care and concerns, your love and everything that you have done for me. Wherever you are, I know you are in a much better place. I will be forever grateful and thankful to you "IYEMI". I will miss u mama.
Rest well Iyemi!
Adeyemi, Grand daughter

Still in great shock, can't still believe my lovely Grandma has slept in the Lord.
I will miss you Grandma. You taught me how to live in strength in all I do. The entire lives you touched through your great words of encouragement and prayers will forever remember you.
Rest well maami.
Ayomide, Grand daughter

Eulogy, Grandma!
Grandma, you were a divine personification of love. Even though we couldn't verbally communicate properly, which was my fault; our energies were always connected, I could understand you without really understanding you, likewise with myself. I believe that you have experienced something wonderful, you have fulfilled your primary purpose and have transcended to serve a higher purpose, this, beyond our human comprehension. With your ascent, may you find eternal peace and tranquility.
Temidayo Arise, Grandson.

Grandma O Grandma!
How shocking it was! How painful and how sad!! Hmmmmmm...... can't believe you are gone so soon. Looking back and thinking about whom I'm going to call every Sunday to teach me our language and it saddens my heart to the core.
Your death came as a shock to everyone. You were a very loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend to all. The way you took care of us anytime we came over was the sweetest thing ever. You would always play with us outside and teach us to speak Oka dialect. Tears rolling down my cheeks thinking about all our memories but it makes me even happier to know that you have gone to a better place.
I love you so much grandma and your memories will forever remain in my heart
Sun re o Maami!!!

Good Night Mama!!!
The news came as a shock to me on that fateful day. Only God knows why it has to be now. I was planning to come over later this year, and also to visit you in Oka. Mama, I cannot forget your impact in my life; especially the trying and difficult years of my life. I am still amazed at your display of simplicity and wise way of handling issues. Many times you called me to pray with me. You took over the motherly role in my life after my mum passed away and you mothered me well. Thank you, mama, I will never forget you. You are indeed a gem. You fought a good fight mama. Rest on mama.
Pastor Steven Arise, Son.

From him we come and to him we shall return. In November you said that we should all make sure that you were celebrated in the New Year as your next birthday looms. Little did we know that you were referring to your transition. You lived a good life and lived well. It's my prayer that you will rest in perfect peace that you truly deserved.

The news of the demise of our beloved mother, Mary Arise came to my wife and I as a rude shock. With our closeness to the family, mama was very humble, generous, friendly/warm, down to earth, and a woman of Christ who has thirst, passion and love for things of Christ. We shall miss you no doubt very dearly. Mama Arise, rest in perfect peace.
