|Let the memory of Mary be with us forever|
She lived in Tempe for 52 years. Her birth was a home delivery in Skyler County,Illinois on November 18th 1924.
The area is now known as Beards Town. While in school at a one room school house she developed a love for Reading and Math. She also loved to draw and work with her hands. Later on in her life she did sewing, crocheting and even whittling. She was the last of the nine children born to Vail and Kate Seward.
She was married to Louis H. Parker for 43 years. He preceded her in passing April of 1983. During WWII she worked at International Harvester, which built tanks and made artillery. The Parker family moved to the valley in 1958. Her first work in Arizona was also in a factory, making jackets and other clothing. Later she spent over 21 years working as a school bus driver for the Tempe Elementary School District. Her love of fishing developed early in her life. The Parker family spent many weekends camping and fishing in Illinois and New Jersey. She and Lou, later spent many happy times fishing at Rocky Point and sharing fish with their extended family.
After retiring, she regularly brought home big catfish caught at Kiwanis Park in Tempe. She is survived by her children William “Bill” Parker, Doris Chamberlain (Harl), Alice Magnin (John), Harold “Hal” Parker (Barbara) and Shirley Peters, as well as several grandchildren, great grand children and many friends. Mother always had time to share with her friends be it a funny story or a meal.
Today March 19th we celebrate her lifetime of 86 years.
