Born, February 15, 1942 in Guerryton, AL, Mary L. Reid was the oldest daughter of Jefferson Allen and Dora Rockemore Allen Banks.


In her early years, Mary moved to New York with her sister, Mattie, where she worked as a housekeeper and nanny for select families. While in New York, she met and married Billy Reid. There were no children born to this union.


Mary loved the Lord and possessed an outgoing personality. She loved to spend her time “sightseeing” in New York, reading and watching her favorite daytime soap operas.


Preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jeff Allen, Jr. and Charlie Allen, Mary transitioned into eternal rest March 18, 2015.


Mary’s legacy will be cherished by her brother, David Allen of Hurtsboro, AL; sisters, Dorothy Upshaw of Virginia and Mattie Banks of New York; sister-in-law, Hattie Allen of Georgia; a devoted cousin, Frostie Williams, Union Springs, AL, who was with her from the beginning to the end; a niece, nephew and several friends.
Mary will be missed.
