What a wonderful time we had this past October at the Quarter Horse Congress in Ohio!! A trip I'll never forget---cold, rain, our dogs, shopping, picking up buckeyes!
We will never forget our good time in the cutting pen Saturday and Sunday mornings--sometimes lunch--WOW!! Can't forget our trail rides! Boy--did we have fun! Memories----pressed between the pages of my mine--- Happy trails Mary!
Sweet Mary
Mary was my matron of honor at my first wedding. We had known each other for years...I recently moved back to Columbus, lost my mother the end of March, and now my sweet Mary is gone...I always loved you and thought of you often. You were one of the sweetest women and best friends I ever had. I will miss you, Mary. Love you, and blessings to your family. I
Destin Old Ladies' Club
Over 30 years ago, Mama Bess Mumbrauer and her dear friend Mary Haley began a tradition of ladies' trips to their beloved condos in Destin, FL. They were sometimes joined by daughters Mary, Nancy and Mimi. After Mary Haley passed away, the ladies' trips continued and expanded to include granddaughters Donna and Karen (and sometimes Claire and Kim), and became fondly known as the Destin Old Ladies' Club.
Many wonderful trips were enjoyed by this group whose motto is "Life is Good"...and it always was with Mary present. We enjoyed "Tea Time" which equated to wine and snacks on the porch while we oohed and aahed over how beautiful the bay looked. We cooked great food, played heated games of Rummikub and shopped til we dropped.
Though the trips may continue, the Destin Old Ladies' Club will not be the same without Mary there. Her energy and love for life lit up our days in a way even the bright Florida sunshine could not match. Her presence will be missed by all, but the wonderful memories will last us a lifetime!
